Janssen reaches the 150-penalty-corner-goal mark for Kampong
Jip Janssen has reached a special milestone in the Hoofdklasse. The Kampong specialist scored two goals from penalty corners in Sunday’s away match against Pinoké, bringing his total in the regular league to exactly 150 penalty corner goals.
This is a unique achievement, as no player in Kampong’s entire Hoofdklasse history has ever reached that figure – not even club icon Paul Litjens. The all-time top scorer for the Utrecht club (267 goals) scored 144 goals from penalty corners during his career.
Specialist Janssen scored his first Hoofdklasse goal in the 2016–2017 season, naturally from a penalty corner. Since then, his penalty corner tally has grown steadily. His most productive season from the penalty corner was 2022–2023, when he found the net no fewer than 32 times. In total, he scored 34 league goals that season.
His output remained high thereafter as well. In 2023–2024, he scored twenty penalty corner goals, and 21 the following season. This season, after six match rounds, Janssen has scored five league goals: four penalty corners and one penalty stroke.
Janssen – in his eleventh season with Kampong – has now scored 166 goals in the regular season of the Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse. Apart from the 150 penalty corner goals, he has scored five field goals and found the net eleven times from the penalty spot. For Kampong, only Litjens, Tom van ’t Hek (209 goals) and Constantijn Jonker (177) have scored more goals for the Utrecht-based side.
