YouTube series ‘Unscripted’ offers a unique glimpse behind the scenes
What goes on behind the scenes at the Netherlands’ top hockey teams? In the new YouTube series ‘Unscripted’, hockey fans are given an exclusive glimpse into the world of the Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse. Kampong Men’s 1 kick off the series.
Unscripted is all about the stories you don’t normally get to see. The cameras follow the players off the pitch and show what goes on within a Hoofdklasse team – from personal stories to the dynamics within the squad. Each episode focuses on a different team, with new stories and surprising insights.
The name ‘Unscripted’ wasn’t chosen by chance. The series has a surprising concept: at the end of each episode, the Hoofdklasse team in question spins a wheel. This determines the subject of the next episode. This gives each episode its own character and means that even the players are kept in the dark about what’s going to happen.
Kampong kicks things off
The first episode focuses on the Kampong men’s team. Lars Balk, amongst others, speaks at length. The player with 176 caps for the Netherlands talks about his decision to bring his career with the national team to a close.
There is also a focus on life off the hockey pitch, where the Kampong players show that top-level sport involves not only intensive training sessions and matches, but also hearty meals.
With ‘Unscripted’, the Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse shows that there is much more to every team than just their performances on the pitch.
