In the Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse Women, Iris de Kemp is on course for a remarkably high goal tally for a Kampong player. In the men’s competition, Den Bosch defender Timo Boers has overtaken Struan Walker at the top of the top scorers’ list.

Iris de Kemp underlined her top form with her second hat-trick of the season. The Kampong striker played a starring role in the 6-0 victory over HGC, taking her season tally to ten goals. This makes her the first Kampong player to reach double figures after the first seven league matches.

By way of comparison, De Kemp scored just seven goals in her entire previous season. She is also on course to equal Janneke Koreneef’s club record. Koreneef scored 22 goals for Kampong in the 1988–1989 season, a feat that remains unrivalled to this day.

De Kemp is third on the top scorers’ list, behind the two familiar goal-scoring machines Frédérique Matla and Yibbi Jansen. Matla also scored in the 2–0 victory in the top match against SCHC and leads the scoring charts with sixteen goals. The Den Bosch forward has now scored in thirteen consecutive match rounds. Jansen failed to find the net for the first time this season and is second with twelve goals.

In the men’s competition, Timo Boers marked a changing of the guard. The penalty corner specialist scored three of Den Bosch’s eight goals against Klein Zwitserland (8–1), taking his tally from eight to eleven. In doing so, he overtook Struan Walker, who failed to score during Oranje-Rood’s 1-2 victory over Rotterdam and remained on nine goals. For Boers, it was already his second hat-trick of the season and the tenth of his Hoofdklasse career.

Boers is also approaching a fine personal milestone: the 23-year-old defender is just three goals away from his 100th goal in the regular league. Behind him and Walker comes Fabian Verzuu with eight goals. The HDM striker scored against SCHC for the fifth time in seven match rounds, this time from a penalty corner. Thanks to two goals against Klein Zwitserland, Thierry Brinkman drew level with Mustapha Cassiem on seven goals.
