The summer transfer window: here are the key moves in the men’s game
The squads in the Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse Men have undergone further changes this summer. Amsterdam have signed two big names in Duco Telgenkamp and Tom Sorsby, whilst Den Bosch and Kampong have lost a great deal of experience.
The most notable transfer to date took place at the losing finalists of the play-offs. Amsterdam signed Dutch international Duco Telgenkamp from Kampong and also poached England World Cup player Tom Sorsby from Den Bosch. Belgian youth international Olivier Biekens also moved to the capital.
Offsetting the arrival of this trio is, amongst other things, the departure of Robbert Kemperman. The 36-year-old midfielder called time on his career in May after a long and successful spell. Karst Timmer and goalkeeper Olivier Paalman both moved to KLEIN ZWITSERLAND, whilst Scottish international Lee Morton also left the club.
German reinforcements for Den Bosch
Seven players left Den Bosch’s squad this summer. As well as Sorsby, Lucas Driessen moved to Hurley, Jaïr van der Horst opted for ORANJE-ROOD, and goalkeeper Sander van Berkel and Sweder Koens made the move to Nijmegen. Pepijn Reyenga and Gijs Campbell retired.
Den Bosch publicly announced three replacements. German internationals Moritz Ludwig and Malte Hellwig joined from Uhlenhorst Mülheim. Hjalmar Voskuil also joined the club; he played for Hurley last season.
Kampong also lost quite a few players. As well as Telgenkamp, Mats Gruter left for SCHC and Hugo van Beusekom for Laren. Caspar Dobbelaar and Sander de Wijn ended their top-flight hockey careers. The Utrecht-based team signed Dylan Lucieer from Rotterdam and welcomed brothers Peppe and Juup Veen from Schaerweijde.
Reinforcements from abroad
Quite a few clubs have brought in reinforcements from abroad in recent months. For instance, HDM signed the Canadian Robin Thind and the Argentine Ignacio Ibarra, whilst ORANJE-ROOD bolstered their squad with Belgian international Victor Foubert.
Bloemendaal signed the Spaniard Pere Amat from Club Egara and acquired the Argentine World Cup player Bautista Capurro from Club Ciudad de Buenos Aires, whilst KLEIN ZWITSERLAND is offering Sam Lane a new opportunity in the Hoofdklasse. The New Zealand forward had previously played in the Netherlands for ORANJE-ROOD.
Pinoké added the 22-year-old Belgian youth international Hugo Labouchere to their squad, whilst Rotterdam have bolstered their ranks with the arrival of French player Brieuc Delemazure.
