The top scorers’ lists in the Hoofdklasse are starting to take shape following the first few match rounds. In the women’s competition, Frédérique Matla (Den Bosch) and Yibbi Jansen (SCHC) are now joint top scorers with ten goals each. In the men’s competition, Fabian Verzuu (HDM) remains the sole leader for the time being.

Matla scored her tenth goal of the season on Sunday in the top match at Amsterdam (0–2), reaching double figures after the first five match rounds for the second time in her career. Jansen started the match round with eight goals, but scored twice against Hurley (2–1) to draw level.

Behind the pair is Iris de Kemp of Kampong with six goals. Jip Dicke (SCHC) and Charlotte Schrijvers (Oranje-Rood) are both on five goals.

Productive Schrijvers
The latter has enjoyed a particularly productive start to the season at Oranje-Rood. The 22-year-old Schrijvers’ five goals are already a personal best for her: in each of the past two full seasons, she managed just two goals.

In Oranje-Rood’s top-flight history, only three players have ever scored more field goals in a single season than Schrijvers: Freeke Moes (eight in 2018–2019), Bibi Donraadt and Janneke van de Venne (both six in 2024–2025).

In the men’s competition, Fabian Verzuu failed to score in match round four, but the HDM striker still tops the scoring charts with six goals. All six of Verzuu’s goals were field goals.

The competition has, however, closed the gap. Pinoké forward Joep Troost scored twice in the home defeat against Den Bosch (2–3) and now has five goals to his name. Timo Boers has the same tally, having scored all five of his goals from penalty corners.

Behind them, it’s a tight race. Amsterdam have three players – Mustapha Cassiem, Boris Burkhardt and Duco Telgenkamp – on four goals each. Oranje-Rood forward Struan Walker is also on four, having scored twice on Sunday against Klein Zwitserland (4-1).
