Top scorers: first hat-tricks for Englebert and Verzuu, Matla’s one-off
At the start of the new season in the Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse, three hat-tricks were recorded straight away: by Den Bosch stars Frédérique Matla and Charlotte Englebert, and by HDM forward Fabian Verzuu. For the latter two, this marked a first.
Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse Women
Frédérique Matla and Charlotte Englebert were on top form right from the start on the first round of the Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse Women’s Division. The Den Bosch players both scored a hat-trick against Pinoké (a 7–1 victory), putting them joint top of the leading scorers’ list. For Matla, it was her 23rd hat-trick in the Hoofdklasse, whilst for Belgian international Englebert it was her first.
Matla also achieved a first: she became the first player to finish a regular league with at least three goals and then start the following season with a hat-trick as well. She had previously achieved this feat during the transition from the 2023–2024 to the 2024–2025 season.

Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse Men
HDM player Fabian Verzuu can call himself the first top scorer of the new season in the Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse. The 31-year-old striker scored three of The Hague’s four goals in the home match against Schaerweijde (a 4–3 win).
It was the first time Verzuu had scored a hat-trick in the Hoofdklasse. He is the first HDM player in 25 years to score three goals in a single match. The previous HDM hat-trick at the highest level came in 2001, courtesy of Arnoud Schollema.
