SCHC and Oranje-Rood remained unbeaten for 22 matches in a row

Of the 24 teams that competed in both Hoofdklasse divisions last season, exactly two remained undefeated. SCHC achieved this in the women’s division, whilst Oranje-Rood did the same in the men’s. Their final records were, in fact, completely identical: seventeen wins, five draws and zero defeats.

Both teams thus accumulated 56 points and finished the regular league in first place. SCHC stood out in particular thanks to its goal difference. The Bilthoven-based team scored 79 goals and conceded just nineteen. Oranje-Rood scored 73 goals and conceded 29.

Even away from their familiar surroundings, both league leaders proved unbeatable. SCHC won ten of their eleven away matches and drew once. Oranje-Rood recorded nine away wins and were held to a draw on two occasions. At home, SCHC recorded seven wins and four draws; Oranje-Rood won eight times at home and drew three times.

For SCHC, an unbeaten season had by now become almost second nature. The team also remained unbeaten in the regular league in the 2021–2022 and 2022–2023 seasons. For the first time since the club’s foundation, Oranje-Rood completed a full Hoofdklasse season without losing a match.

The fact that both the women’s and men’s teams remained unbeaten was historic. It had never happened before in a season that had been played in its entirety. In 2019–2020, Den Bosch in the women’s league and Bloemendaal in the men’s league also remained undefeated, but both leagues were cut short at the time.
