Efficient Oranje-Rood win rescheduled match at Kampong
The Oranje-Rood men’s team secured an important victory in the Staatsloterij Hoofdklasse on Thursday evening. The Eindhoven side won the rescheduled fixture at Kampong 1–2 and now share the top spot with Amsterdam and Den Bosch.
The home side were the more dangerous team in the first half, but failed to capitalise on several chances. Shortly before half-time, Oranje-Rood struck through the Belgian Victor Foubert, whose cross from the edge of the circle surprisingly found its way into the net.
In the third quarter, Borja Lacalle doubled the lead following an assist from Tijmen Reyenga. Kampong barely managed to pose any threat during that phase. It was only 58 seconds before the final whistle that Jip Janssen restored the tension with a penalty corner (1–2).
However, the equaliser failed to materialise, meaning Oranje-Rood took all three points back to Eindhoven. The Eindhoven side extended their unbeaten run in the regular league to 32 matches. For Kampong, it marked their second defeat in a top-of-the-table clash this season, following their earlier loss to Pinoké (3–2).
